Today, May 25th = National Tap Dance Day!

Posted: 25th May 2011 by MelbourneTapDance in members

May 25 was officially passed as National Tap Dance Day by a vote of U.S. Congress in 1989.
Why May 25?  It is the (birthday of famous tapper Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, known and loved worldwide for his work onstage and in movies (and taught Shirley Temple her steps).

Melbournetapdance.com  hosted the celebrations on the steps of Parliament on Sunday.  Tonight you can join them for tap classes in Richmond and St.Kilda – see the classes page for class times to watch or participate!

Here’s some of the photos from the celebrations on Sunday – a good hour of non stop tap!
