Class Description: Formed over 20 years ago come and learn a routine from Grant Swift’s (AUS/NZ) ever evolving tap crew.

Taught by Winston Morrison, director of MelbourneTapDance.com, setting the benchmark for tap in Australia and Asia, this is repetoire that wherever the  crew perform, people remark they’ve never seen tap like this before.

MTD  students travel nationally and internationally to learn their material, and now.. 10 years after their last tap class at Broadway Dance Centre in 2001, one of them have returned to give you the once in a lifetime chance to pick up some fresh footwork and slides from the other side of the globe.

Originally choreographed to James Brown’s Funky Drummer, the routine named Funky Drummer is punchy, hard hitting and makes you feel like you’re flying.  As performed at the Melbourne International Tap Festival it is one of the first routines taught to their intermediate students in Australia.

The routine was last seen in NYC 2008 at Peter Norton’s Symphony Space in Broadway as part of Tap City  with fellow troupe member Thomas Wadelton (Tapestry Dance Company).
